MAYOR HAYIM ZURI AND THE CHILDREN OF KIRYAT MOTZKIN THANK ORLANDO’S JEWISH COMMUNITY

FEBRUARY 29, 2008

Mayor Zuri, of Orlando’s Israeli partnership city Kiryat Motzkin, visits a new after school program for 3rd and 4th grade children in need, supported by an overseas allocated donation from The Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando. Mayor Zuri participates in the giving of a Tallit prayer shawl to an Ethiopian child in need, and listens to the students tell the exciting stories of their new successes in the classroom. This new after school program is implemented by The Jewish Agency for Israel and provides hot lunches as well as after school tutoring, giving many Ethiopian and Russian children a chance to a new beginning in Israel. This project has been a huge success, and many of the Ethiopian and Russian students have made huge progress in the classroom thanks to The Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando.
